I am over 21 and never swam before and was terrified of the water. Gilda patiently guided me through a progression of exercises that helped me overcome my fear. As a result of her skilled instruction I am both a confident and elegant swimmer.

Adult Beginners

It is not uncommon for adult non-swimmers to develop a fear of water. This is caused either by a bad experience or by not knowing how to remain in control in deep water. I teach my students about the panicking feeling in the water and how to overcome this fear. Beginners learn breathing and balance, how to relax in the water, how to master basic skills and stroke techniques. I help students become confident swimmers, motivate them to include swimming in their weekly routine. Swimming becomes not a struggle, but a great way to improve aerobic endurance, and increase strength and stamina.

Fitness Swimmers

If you are a fitness swimmer, you already know that swimming is nearly the most complete form of exercise. I will help you sharpen your stroke technique, and give you tips on improving your body position, balance and rotation. Soon, you will be able to detect and correct the errors in your technique by yourself and will learn that your swimming style is good when it feels easy.

My progressive workout plans will help you stay fit and healthy, shape your body, and increase your muscle flexibility without the risk of injury.

Competitive Swimmers

My teaching philosophy for clients that compete in triathlons and swim marathons is that only the proper technique and the right form will make them swim better and faster. When training, many swimmers assume that more and more laps is the only way to get faster, and work hard at it. My experience has taught me that not only is this difficult and exhausting, but in the end you spend all your energy without really making any progress. This is why, when coaching competitive swimmers, I focus on perfecting stroke mechanics and understanding hydrodynamic principles necessary to swim efficiently.
